Getting Lean and Toned this Summer with EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control Shakes

The summer is flying by and the back-to-school season is approaching. During the school year, I’m able to workout at a gym because my kids are in school and I have some time to myself during the day to use the equipment that the gym offers. I love to use the elliptical machines and especially the weight machines when I take advantage of our gym. The leg press is one of my favorite workouts because I love to have strong legs!

During the summer, I have my kids home with me and it’s not easy to get to the gym. The current gym does not offer childcare which forces me to find other options for working out. Thankfully, I have a home gym where I can get in my daily workouts even when my kids are home with me. It’s a small setup, but it works for me. In my home gym I have a cycle bike from an old gym where I used to teach cycle classes and a weight bench with a few arm weights.

I try to eat right during the summer months and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating right is important to me along with exercise. For the last two months, I’ve limited my carb intake and have lost about 6 pounds. This is exciting for me because the scale was stuck at a certain number for a long time before I decided to limit my carbs. At first, it was hard to figure out what to eat or drink during this new lifestyle, but with time and a lot of research, I no longer have to guess what foods I can or can’t eat. Even though I’ve lost some weight, I know that I also want to get toned and fit. I know how good I feel when I’m toned and fit and I’m trying to get back there. After having two babies, I’m holding onto some of the baby weight and need to get rid of it.

    I’ve had hormone issues for YEARS, but didn’t realize they were because of an over-consumption of carbohydrates and sugar until recently. I gained 100lbs while on bed rest with my daughter in 2009, and despite my efforts to “eat healthy” according to the food pyramid, I couldn’t lose a single pound. I grew up an athlete, and even getting back into the gym and hitting it hard wasn’t doing it for me. I lost 60lbs, then lost and gained the same 20lbs over and over and over until I just resolved myself to be fat for the rest of my life. I went back to my old endocrinologist back in January, and he told me I had to eat low carb as a lifestyle for the rest of my life. A week later, on Feb. 1, I went back to Low carb, and have since lost over 40lbs – and counting. I’ve got about 40 more to get down to my body’s happy weight, but it’s just insane how things change once you have kids and get older – and by older I mean I’m only 34!       Summer, thanks for sharing! I was at a point where I was ‘stuck’ also and almost gave up. I even walked 50+ miles in one month thinking that my activity increase would help me lose. My weight stayed the same. It wasn’t until I limited the carbs that I saw the decrease and I’ve felt better ever since! Way to go on your personal journey towards a healthier lifestyle!
