3 Places to Visit with Kids in Durham, NC

I love North Carolina. On the west side of the state, you can see beautiful mountains. On the east side of the state, you can see the beaches on the East Coast! Centrally located, you’ll find Durham County, a wonderful location for families! Durham is the place to visit during the summer time. You can find plenty of entertainment for the entire family.

We have our itinerary ready for our visit to Durham this summer. We are adding plenty of kid friendly activities to the list to keep all of our kids (ages 8, 5 and 1) entertained. As a mom, you know how important it is to keep the kids happy while traveling! Before we planned out our itinerary, we requested free guides and maps of Durham. Once they arrived, we decided on a few of the top places we wanted to visit during our stay.

Kids guide

1. Museum of Life & Science – This is a family friendly museum with indoor and outdoor exhibits + hands on learning fun. Popular exhibits include one of the largest butterfly houses on the East Coast, a dinosaur trail where guests can admire over a dozen life-size dinosaurs, and Hideaway Woods, a two-acre nature discovery environment featuring eight tree houses, a flowing stream, and fanciful nature sculptures.

2. Notasium – This is a music-based playspace. Younger kids will love playing on interactive structures, such as a giant guitar with an attached slide. Older kids can live out their pop/rock star dreams in sound-proofed karaoke and mixing booths. Children can burn energy off by jumping in the inflatable Double Drum Bounce House!

3. Sky Zone – This is an indoor trampoline park with a large jumping area divided into zones: a wall-to-wall main trampoline area, a dodgeball area, and a huge foam pit. Sky Zone also has a basketball area where you can jump and dunk.

There are several more kid friendly activities to take advantage of! When we aren’t taking advantage of the kids activities, you can be sure we will be enjoying other opportunities in Durham, including shopping, dining, and other entertainment! The adults will have fun, too! Watch the video below to see more of what Durham has to offer.
