At the end of every year, my husband and I sit down somewhere quiet over a cup of coffee to discuss our new year’s resolutions for the upcoming year. This has been a tradition of ours for about three years. We have a notebook that we use to write down our goals for each new year. It’s fun to look back to previous years to see the goals that we met and the goals that we need to work harder at. This year, my husband and I both agreed that we wanted to create a budget that works for our family. After sitting down and going through our monthly bills together to see where our money was going, it was clear that something needed to change. We were paying way too much for our cell phone service. The amount we paid in 2014 was an eye opener. We made the decision together that it was time to look into prepaid plans so that we could stick to our budget without going over.

My husband and I did a bit of research to determine the prepaid plan that was right for us. By switching over to the T-Mobile Simply Prepaid™ plan, we will know exactly how much we are spending and this helps us stick to our budget for 2015. For just $40 dollars a month, we get 4G LTE data with unlimited talk and text! In the past, we actually went over our text limits several times and we ended up paying big time for it! With the prepaid plan, we don’t have to worry about going over our limit. Nervous about a prepaid plan? Prepaid plans often have slow data, a spotty network, and second rate phones/less of a selection of phones. However with Simply Prepaid™ you get 4G LTE data on T-Mobile!

T-Mobile brings the best in wireless to prepaid:

  • nationwide 4G LTE on a Data Strong network
  • award winning customer service
  • selection of latest smartphones

Along with our new prepaid plan, I decided to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Avant from our local Walmart in South Carolina with a 4.5″ qHD touchscreen, quad core processor, 5mp camera, with email, texting, and web capability! I need these features for my on-the-go lifestyle and need to be able to have quick access to these features when I’m out and about running errands during the day. It’s nice to be able to keep up with email or browse the web when I need to any time of the day, anywhere I go. I also use my Galaxy Avant smartphone for checking my business emails during the day while I’m working instead of switching back and forth between tabs on my laptop!

Ah — the things we could have done with the money we spent on cell service for 2014! I regret not switching to a prepaid plan sooner! We could have invested in our children’s 529 plans, or we could have taken that vacation we wanted to take with the money we “could have” saved.

I have accepted that the past is the past and we are taking steps to make sure we aren’t stuck paying ridiculous amounts of money in 2015 towards cell phone service.

Do you know how much you are paying each month for cell phone service? Would you consider switching to a prepaid plan?

I love how affordable it is. My kids are still very young, but there have been times when we’ve had to leave one of our cell phones behind with a babysitter. That makes me nervous because then they have access to all my emails and texts, etc. This would be a great option for when my kids are older or if we need a phone for a sitter.

My husband made me switch to his Sprint plan with him. I don’t really like it. I feel like the amount of money should get me a better service. I may look more into this.

Preapaid is great for tweens and teens in my opinion. You know exactly what you are spending each month on if they misbehave or do something to loose a privilege then no new minutes that month.

Keeping with a budget takes some discipline. It’s hard to stick with it wihtout a plan. With a great option like this, we could definitely save what we needed to each month. #client
