Ways to Add Protein and Fiber to Your Diet

If you are a busy mom and have a hectic schedule, eating right and exercising may be getting pushed aside because a never ending to-do list. Does this sound accurate? I’m guilty of being too busy lately and I’m struggling with preparing healthy dinners as well as finding the time to fit in exercising.

The last few weeks, I’ve been making small improvements so that I can get the quality nutrition I need as well as finding time to move each day! My body needs proper fuel just to make it through each day. The foods that I eat are a big part of how much energy I’ll have for the day, and I must choose my foods wisely. I also know that a good combination of protein and fiber helps keep me on track as well as staying regular! If you are looking for more ways to add more protein and fiber to your diet, this list will come in handy for you.

7 Ways to Add Protein and Fiber to Your Diet

Apples and Peanut Butter or Almond Butter

Cut up an apple into slices and dip into peanut butter or almond butter. The apples are high in fiber and the peanut butter or almond butter contains a lot of protein!

Almonds

Almonds are an excellent source of protein and fiber. I place about 10-12 almonds in a baggie and eat them before or after my workouts.

Blueberries

Blueberries are high in fiber and can be eaten in many different ways! I like to eat blueberries plain, frozen, in smoothie recipes, cereal, yogurt, fruit pies, and more!

Spinach or Kale

Add leafy greens to your diet for a fiber and protein kick! You can even blend some in your smoothies for an added health benefit! I’ve added spinach to my blueberry smoothies and they taste great!

Eggs

Eggs are full of protein! Start your morning off right with a few eggs for breakfast! You can add a piece of toast using a high fiber bread such as Ezekiel 4:9 for extra fiber.

Shakes or Smoothies

Add delicious shakes or smoothies to your diet. Choose a smoothie powder mix that is full of fiber and protein to add to your smoothies. I like to use almond milk for my smoothies! Check out my favorite smoothie recipes.

Oatmeal with Walnuts

Enjoy a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast to give you energy for the day! Add walnuts for extra protein. Check out this Strawberry Walnut Oatmeal recipe.
