Pizza Night with Pizza Hut #FlavorOfNow

The weather here has been very cold and rainy and I haven’t seen the sun in a few days. I’m not a fan of that combination and my motivation for daily tasks to include cooking tends to decrease when it’s nasty out. Last night was one of those nights where I was running out of time to plan a great dinner for my family. When I feel defeated at the end of the long day, there’s usually one answer to our dinner time fix and that’s to have a pizza night.

Pizza nights are easy for us over here because the entire family loves pizza. I don’t have to hear whining or complaining when I bring pizza home and it’s a win for all of us! My girls like simple cheese or pepperoni pizzas for dinner, so for some time now, I’ve picked up a basic cheese or pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut to bring home.  However, my husband and I wanted to try something new and order our own specialty pizza with our own fun toppings. That’s why I was excited to see Pizza Hut’s new commercial on TV about their all new menu with new flavors including base sauces, ingredients, crust edges, and sauce drizzles! With the amazing variety of new ingredients to try, I was ready to try something new for the new year and add more “healthy options” to our pizza such as Fresh Spinach and Peruvian Cherry Peppers!

With the new amazing choices, it was a bit difficult to choose my “perfect pizza” (a good thing of course!) My choices were:

  • New Ingredients: Peruvian Cherry Peppers, Classic Meatball, Premium Salami, Fresh Spinach, Sliced Banana Peppers
  • Savory Crust Edge Flavors: Hut Favorite, Salted Pretzel, Garlic Buttery Blend, Honey Sriracha, Fiery Red Pepper, Toasted Asiago, Toasted Cheddar, Toasted Parmesan
  • New Base Sauces: Premium Crushed Tomato, Creamy Garlic Parmesan, Buffalo, Barbeque, Honey Sriracha
  • Delicious Sauce Drizzles: Balsamic, Buffalo, Barbeque, Honey Sriracha

After careful planning and a little bit of going back and forth, I finally chose this combination: Peruvian Cherry Peppers, Fresh Spinach, Garlic Buttery Blend Crust, Premium Crushed Tomato Sauce, Balsamic Sauce Drizzle. I brought my personalized pizza home for my family and introduced a new flavor combination for everyone to try. With small children and any new ingredients, you can be sure you’ll get some questionable looks from them, so a little “shifting” of some of the ingredients worked for us so that we could all enjoy this pizza. My husband and I were really excited about something different and I was happy to have healthy ingredients on my pizza.

The flavor of each bite of pizza was delightful. The Peruvian Cherry Peppers with the Balsamic drizzle added a bit of sweetness to every bite. I love a sweet/salty combination! The Premium Crushed Tomato Sauce added such a “fresh” flavor to the pizza and went well with the Fresh Spinach! You can’t go wrong with a Garlic Buttery Crust! Our first experience with the new flavors at Pizza Hut proved to be successful. It was so successful that after we finished this pizza, my husband and I were planning out our next pizza visit!

Since I planned this pizza, I thought it would be fun to let him tell me what he wanted on our next pizza. He chose the Classic Meatball, Honey Sriracha Crust Edge and Honey Sriracha Drizzle, with the Premium Crushed Tomato Sauce. He loved the sauce on this pizza and wanted to stick with it.
