One way to honor our heroes is to get creative and make some Memorial Day crafts with your kindergarteners.

These 10 Memorial Day crafts are perfect for young children and will help them understand the importance of this holiday.

Memorial Day Crafts for Kindergarten

Popsicle Stick Flags

This craft is a classic and easy to do. All you need are popsicle sticks, red, white, and blue paint, and glue.

Have your children paint the sticks in alternating colors and glue them together to form a flag.

They can also add stars using white paint or stickers.

Patriotic Handprint

Have your children dip their hands in red, white, and blue paint and make a handprint on a piece of paper.

You can then cut out the handprint and glue it to a piece of cardstock or construction paper to create a patriotic-themed artwork.

Red, White, and Blue Windsock

This simple project only requires a paper plate, streamers in red, white, and blue, scissors, and string.

Cut the paper plate in half and glue the streamers to the inside of the plate.

Then, glue the two halves of the plate together and attach a string to the top to hang it up.

American Flag Wreath

Using a styrofoam ring, have your children cover it in red, white, and blue tissue paper.

Then, cut accordion-style strips of white paper and glue them in a star pattern on the wreath.

You can also add a blue construction paper star to the center of the wreath.

Patriotic Hat

Have your children decorate a plain white hat with red, white, and blue paint or markers. They can add stars, stripes, or even their name to the hat.

Memorial Day Necklace

Cut red, white, and blue straws into small pieces and string them together to create a patriotic necklace. Your children can wear them to show their support for our troops.

Patriotic Slime

This activity is both fun and educational for kids. Mix together clear glue, borax, and water and add red, white, and blue glitter.

Your kids will love playing with the slime and learning about colors at the same time.

American Bald Eagle Collage

Cut out pictures of bald eagles and let your children create a collage using red, white, and blue tissue paper.

The eagles can also be painted using watercolors to add an extra pop of color.

Stars and Stripes Painting

Provide your children with red, white, and blue paint and let them create their own stars and stripes painting. Have them use different sized paintbrushes to create texture and depth.

Patriotic Cupcake Liner Wreath

Using a styrofoam wreath ring, glue red, white, and blue cupcake liners to the ring in a circular pattern. You can add a bow or ribbon to the wreath to give it a finishing touch.
