A letter to your little one can be cherished for years to come, serving not only as a way to document their growth but also as a personal keepsake for both you and your child.

But what do you say to a baby who cannot yet read or understand your words?

In this blog post, I’ll give you some tips and examples of what you can write in a letter to your baby.

What to Write in a Letter to a Baby

Express Your Love and Excitement

Start by expressing your love and excitement for the arrival of your baby.

Share what you’re feeling, how you’ve been preparing for their arrival and how much you already love them.

Starting the letter this way can make baby feel extra special and set the tone for your letter.

Share Your Hopes and Dreams

Next, share your hopes and dreams for your baby.

What kind of world do you imagine for them?

What do you hope they will achieve?

Are there any traditions or values that you hope to pass on to your baby?

Telling your baby about your dreams can be a thoughtful way to show them the kind of parent you strive to be.

Document Their First Few Weeks or Months

Document your baby’s first few weeks or months.

Share details such as their birth date and time, weight and length at birth, and any special or memorable moments that happened during their first few days or weeks.

You can also include information about your baby’s daily routines, milestones and achievements.

As your child grows, they will love going back to see how much they’ve changed since those first few weeks of life.

Share Memories of Your Own Childhood

Sharing memories of your own childhood can be a great way to bond with your baby.

Tell them stories of your childhood, your parents and grandparents, and other family members.

Share your favorite books, songs or movies from your childhood.

By sharing these memories, you’re giving your baby a glimpse into their family history.

Leave a Message for the Future

In your last paragraph, leave your baby a message for the future.

This message can be about anything that’s on your mind, but think of it as something that can serve as a reminder of your love for your baby.

Tell them how proud of them you are, or give them some advice for their future.

Get started!

Writing a letter to your baby can be a satisfying and personal way of expressing your love and hopes for your little one.

It can be a cherished keepsake for both you and your baby, giving them a glimpse into their past and a reminder of your love for them.

By following the tips and examples in this blog post, you’ll be well on your way to creating a lasting and meaningful connection with your baby before they’re even born.
