Create this colorful Earth Day Tree Craft for Kids this year to celebrate Earth Day!
Earth Day is coming up on April 22!
Earth Day is the perfect time to get outdoors with the kids to enjoy activities like planting trees, starting a garden, picking up trash, or simply as a way to get out to take in fresh air!
When the weather warms up, I try my best to keep my kids outside as long as possible. When they get home from school, they have time to ride their bikes down to the park and play with their friends.
These opportunities give my kids plenty of time to get creative with nature vs. staying indoors and being too plugged in to electronics. Just recently, my youngest daughter brought me sticks and rocks that she collected near the playground. I love seeing my children get excited and involved with nature!
Earth Day 2021 is on April 22 this year. With the spring season being full of outdoor activities for the kids, I thought I’d compile a list of things to do with the kids this year on Earth Day.
Earth Day is the perfect day to teach our kids the importance of taking care of our earth and learning more about Earth’s resources!
10 Earth Day Activities for Kids
Collect rocks and paint them.
My girls are into painting rocks. They usually find a few good rocks when we are taking walks and we bring them home to paint them. They attach googly eyes to the rocks to make pet rocks.
When we moved to Washington about a year ago, we found out that it’s a huge deal to paint rocks and hide them around our area to find! Watch our YouTube video of a few rocks that we painted to hide. We use Posca paint markers – our favorite markers to paint rocks with!

Paint with water.
Give your kids a small cup of water with a paintbrush and let them paint the sidewalk with water!
Create a nature box diorama.
Find leaves, sticks, moss, etc. to create a fun nature diorama using a shoe box or other small box.
Start a small garden.
Gardening can be fun for many kids. Find a few easy to grow plants for your area and plant a small garden or container garden. Allow the kids to help dig and plant the seeds as well as water the seeds as needed. Watch them grow over time!
I wish you could have seen the excitement on my daughter’s face when she saw that one of her sunflowers was growing!
Make mud pies.
When I was little, I have several memories of making mud pies with my brothers and sister! Dress your kids in play clothes for the outdoors and let them have some fun with mud.
Plan an outdoor getaway.
Plan a family vacation and spend a few days outdoors learning about and enjoying nature with your family!
You can find nature trails and outdoor activities that would be perfect for celebrating Earth Day this year such as biking, boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, zip lining, and more!
My husband and I also love to take our girls golfing with us. We enjoy visiting new golf courses and take advantage of pretty spring and summer days outdoors.
During your nature walk, have your children spot as many animals or insects as they can. (Butterfly, Ants, Bees, Wasps, Deer, Birds, Squirrels, etc.)
Pick up trash.
Grab a bag with your children and go around to pick up trash with your kids around a park or your neighborhood. We did this activity last year and we filled a few bags with trash! My kids loved this activity.

Create this fun Easter Egg Letter Matching Game for the kids to play this Easter season!
It’s hard to believe that my daughter is almost finished with her first year at school as a kindergartner.
It seems like we sent her off on the bus for the first time just yesterday. In a few short months the summer break will be here and she will be getting ready for first grade.
During her first year of Kindergarten, she has learned quite a bit. She learned her ABC’s and knows most of her sight words. She’s putting sounds together as she’s reading.
We are working with her at home to practice what she’s learning so that she can end the year on a successful note.
One of the basic skills for Kindergarten is letter matching. Learning the upper case and lower case letters for some students can prove to be tricky!
Then you have letters like p and b and d and g that all look similar in some ways. It’s easy for kids to get mixed up on letters at times.
Now that the Easter holiday is approaching, I wanted to make a fun game for my daughter to play so that she can practice her letter matching before we finish out the year.
This Easter egg matching game below is a great review game for her.
Easter Egg Letter Matching Game

My daughter enjoyed this game!
If you need to practice other areas with your child, feel free to switch things up! You can create word family eggs, addition and subtraction eggs, money eggs, and more!
