Are you looking for ways to contribute to your household income?

As a stay at home mom, you may not feel you are very qualified to do anything that will make you money without going out and getting a job.

    Tips for the Multitasking Mom

However, you probably have lots of skills (or can learn new skills) that would help you earn money without leaving the house or needing to find childcare for the kids.

Ways to Make Money as a Stay at Home Mom

    Sell Your Unused Items

Decluttering your home and selling things you no longer need may be the quickest way to make money for moms.

Facebook Marketplace makes it very easy to connect with buyers in your town that may want what you don’t. If no one around you wants your old items, you can always list them on eBay to increase your exposure.

Reselling items in this way can actually become a full time business venture for work at home moms! After some research, you may find ways to get inventory that you can then resell for a profit.

Check for wholesale liquidation centers in your area. They may have merchandise you’d find at Walmart or on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. In fact, many liquidation centers sell perfectly good products by the pallet at a huge discount. These items can then be resold on Facebook Marketplace or eBay.

Arbitrage is another closely related idea, in which you sell items on behalf of others and make a commission for yourself. There are many people that have things to sell, but may not have the time or knowledge to fool with selling them.

For example, you may have a friend that has a large baseball card collection. He can give you his collection to sell online or locally on Facebook. The advantage for you is that you get 20% of the sales. If you end up selling all the cards for $5000, that’s a nice $1000 for your time.

Word of mouth is powerful. Once your friend sees you can move their baseball card collection, they will definitely tell their friends who also have cards collecting dust in their basements.

    Babysit

If you already have small children you care for each day, babysitting can be an easy money maker for you. You can first offer to babysit family members of friend’s kids.

Advertise your services on local Facebook groups too, and you may find 2-3 more children to watch for extra money.

Depending on their ages, you can charge $50-$100 each week per child. Babies tend to cost more because you have to change diapers and feed them whereas older children are a bit more independent.

This also brings your community closer, and can make some life-long friends for your kiddos as well.

    Become a Virtual Assistant

Reliable internet services and a computer opens you up to even more ways to make money as a work at home mom.

Even if you have limited skills, you can still learn how to become a virtual assistant (VA). This is basically doing the busy work for bloggers or online business owners that are looking to outsource certain tasks.

There are business people online that will pay their VA to check emails, write content, share posts on social media, update product pages, take pictures, create and cook recipes, and more.

None of these tasks are particularly difficult, and if you already check your personal email and post on Facebook regularly you probably have what it takes to become a VA.

Each of your clients will have specific needs and many will offer to train you to ensure you do the job the way they like it.

    Start a Blog

Starting a blog is more of a long-term money maker for work at home moms.

However, investing your time on a blog while you do other money making activities can greatly reward you.

There are many blogs out there that earn thousands each month with advertising and affiliate links (special links that earn the blog owner a commission when a visitor clicks the link and makes a purchase).

I currently own and manage three of my own websites that bring in good income each month:

Mom. Wife. Busy Life. (this blog!)

The Frugal Free Gal (This is a freebie and frugal money saving website.)

Roscoe’s Recipes (Southern Recipes – my husband and I work on this together!)

It may take 6-18 months or longer to get there, depending on your niche and the amount of time you devote, but it’s definitely worth it later down the road.

    Sell Your Photos

Though some may have a natural talent for photography, it’s definitely a skill that moms can learn to make money!

You can create stock photos to sell online, which bloggers and website owners can then purchase a license to use. You will earn money each time a stock photo is licensed.

Of course, you could also expand this to a local photography business, taking family portraits, or even photographing events like weddings or parties.

If this is something you’re interested in, take the idea and run with it.

I keep a small portfolio on Shutterstock and I do earn a little extra cash throughout the year! Several photos have been in my portfolio for several years and they still earn income at times.

    Sell on Etsy

Etsy is a great place for work at home moms to earn money, no matter what you have to sell. It doesn’t work well for the used items in your home (unless they are vintage), but if you are creative you can make new items to sell at a premium on Etsy.

The good thing about this platform is that people expect to pay more for handmade and unique items.

If you have a knack for crafting, you can make a solid income from home with Etsy. Even if you don’t like to craft, you can design printables online to sell – making money with no physical inventory!

Digital printables are a wonderful way to make a passive income online without huge start-up costs.

    Teach a Course

Many teachers have become work at home moms by teaching what they know online. Even if you were never a teacher, as long as you have a skill or hobby you could teach others, you can make money with this method.

There are online platforms that will allow you to create a written or video course on any subject, such as baking, photography, exercise, or home organization. You then earn money for every student that enrolls in your course.

People that don’t want to scour the internet sorting through the free information on a topic will gladly pay to enroll in your course. Many courses sell for $97 and up, depending on the subject matter being taught.

It’s not uncommon to see a $497 course on some topics, and it may have 100+ students enrolled. Just imagine the profits you could earn by teaching something you already know and love.

There are many ways that work at home moms can earn money. These seven are really just scratching the surface. Think outside the box, as creativity can allow you to earn money in the most unusual ways.

It can also take you from earning a few dollars doing what everyone else is, to earning thousands each month doing something that very few people are doing!

What Girls Should Wear When Potty Training

Consider potty training skirts when starting your potty training. A potty training skirt is a garment worn by young girls as they learn to use the toilet. The skirt helps to keep the child’s clothing clean and also provides a modesty shield for when they are using the potty.

Most potty training skirts are made from absorbent materials, such as cotton, which can help to keep the child dry and comfortable.

Some skirts also have built-in panties, which make them easy to put on and take off.

Potty training skirts are a great option for girls who want to feel more feminine and modest while they learn to use the toilet.

Tights and leggings should be avoided when toilet training a girl since they are difficult to pull down and back up.

    Offer Rewards and Incentives

When potty training, it is important to make sure your child is rewarded for their successes. Here are some rewards and incentives you can give your potty-training child:

    – Praise and positive reinforcement

    – Treats (e.g. stickers, small toys, etc.)

    – Extra privileges (e.g. staying up a little later, choosing what they want to wear, etc.)

    – A celebration (e.g. cake, ice cream, etc.) when they successfully potty train

It is important to find what works best for your child and to keep track of their progress.

Some children may need more encouragement than others, so don’t be afraid to try different rewards and incentives until you find something that works.

Use a potty training chart to keep track of your child’s progress! Here’s a great selection of printable potty training charts for girls.

    Read Books about Potty Training

Reading books about potty training to toddlers can help motivate them and give them the information they need to potty train successfully.

Potty training books are filled with helpful tips and tricks, as well as cute stories that will keep your child engaged.

If you are potty training your daughter, be sure to check out some of these potty training books.

Teach Correct Posture When Potty Training

When people think of children spraying urine during potty training, they undoubtedly think of boys.

However, girls often have this problem, too. It is usually because she is sitting on the potty with her pelvis tilted forward.

Teach girls to sit up straight with their bottoms tucked underneath them and their knees together.

If this doesn’t seem to correct the problem, or if parents suspect that there are other issues at play, they should have their daughter examined by her pediatrician.

Potty Training Tips for Public Restrooms

    Help Toddlers Girls Detect Urination

Sometimes little girls will sit on the potty for a while, then get up thinking that they have urinated when they actually haven’t.

Girls are at the disadvantage of not being able to “see” it like boys can. This is especially true if they are using the toilet instead of a potty training chair, when there is already liquid in the bowl.

Parents can help girls to “see” when they have urinated by using a potty chair and placing a sheet of toilet paper at the bottom of the bowl. If it is wet, it will be easier for girls to tell that they have gone.

Girl Potty Training and UTI Risks

Toddler girls are especially susceptible to urinary tract infections (UTIs,) which are often caused by improper wiping after a bowel movement.

During potty training, one of the first lessons parents teach should be how to wipe from front to back.

Potty Training for Girls With Brothers

When they start using the adult toilet instead of a training potty, little girls should also be taught to routinely check that the seat is in the “down” position before using the bathroom.

This is especially important if there are older brothers at home, who might forget to put the seat down every time.

Nothing can be more traumatic to a newly-trained toddler than inexplicably falling in when she thought she was doing it right.

Girls and toilet training are a difficult mix. Children can catch on quickly, but it helps if parents have the right strategies for teaching essential skills.

Each gender has their own set of needs, so parents should give special attention to these matters before starting to potty train their daughter.

  • Romantic Things to Do For Your Husband

Romantic Things to Do For Your Husband

As moms, we spend a lot of time making sure our kids are taken care of so that all of their needs are met. However, in the process, we can lose focus on other things in life that matter, such as relationships with others. With never ending to-do lists and chores galore, it’s important to have a nice balance between family, work, household chores, and relationships. If you’ve been putting relationships aside, such as your relationship with your significant other, it’s time to re-focus on that special someone in your life. Here’s a list of romantic things to do for your husband.

Romantic Things to Do For Your Husband

Day 1: Make a cup of coffee in the morning.

My husband and I enjoy coffee first thing in the morning. I know how happy I am when he makes a fresh cup of coffee for me in the morning. I like to return the favor and have a cup ready for him as soon as he comes downstairs. Drinking coffee together and chatting about life is one of our favorite things to do as a married couple.

Day 2: Plan a passionate night of romance.

Plan an intimate evening of romance! Schedule a night where you and your husband can focus on each other behind closed doors. Make sure the kids are asleep before you begin this exciting night with your husband so that you can fully focus on each other. The last thing you want to hear is a knock on the door because your kids need something! Create an extra special evening by wearing a new piece of lingerie for your husband.

Day 3: Give him a hug.

Sometimes a hug is all it takes to perk your man right up. Hugs are perfect, especially if your husband’s love language is physical touch. Surprise your guy with a hug and it just might make his day a little better! Hugs are free!

Day 4: Send a sweet text message.

Texting seems to be a popular way to communicate these days. Sending text messages can be simple and easy. Texts do not have to be long since a few kind words can go a long way. Send a random text message while your husband is at work. Let him know how thankful you are for him. Tell him something he does that you really love or appreciate.

Day 5: Buy tickets to his favorite event.

Is there an event coming to your area soon? Maybe it’s a sporting event, concert, car show, etc. Buy tickets to this event and surprise him! My husband would be thrilled if I purchased football tickets to be able to watch his favorite team play!

This would one of my husband’s favorites on the list of Romantic Things to Do For Your Husband!

Day 6: Enjoy a hobby together.

Does your husband have a certain hobby that he enjoys? Express interest in the things that he loves to do and try to learn more about this particular hobby. Eventually, this can be something that the both of you end up enjoying together. If you aren’t as interested in his hobby, it’s always a good idea to give him time to enjoy these hobbies alone. For example, my husband loves golf. I learned how to golf a few years ago and it’s turned into one of my hobbies! We like to plan golf dates together when he gets a day off. I also encourage him often to go golfing on his own –something he loves to do, too. We try to keep a good balance between the two.

Day 7: Cook a special dinner.

What is your husband’s favorite meal to eat? Spend some time in the kitchen creating and cooking your husband’s favorite meal. Include a special dessert to enjoy after dinner. Make this extra special by adding a nice place setting and candle to the table.

    Day 8: Clean the house.

Schedule a day to clean the house for your husband. My husband loves to come home to a clean home. When he comes home after a long day at work, he’s able to put his feet up and enjoy his evening instead of looking around at the piles of mess which can increase stress and anxiety. We both love a clean house (who doesn’t?) so it’s important to us to keep our home neat, tidy, and as clutter free as possible. It’s all about the “choreplay!” Light the candles to make it cozy and smelling fresh!

Day 9: Make his lunch and include a note on a napkin.

Prepare a lunch for your husband to enjoy at work by including a few of his favorite foods, snacks, and drinks. Make it special by including a napkin with a handwritten personal message on the napkin. Not only is the lunch a nice gesture, the extra note inside will be a extra special pick me up that he may need during a stressful workday.

Day 10: Plan a couples massage.

A couples massage can be a great way to relieve stress and tension together. Schedule a couples massage soon and let the stress melt away!

Day 11: Hire a babysitter, get dressed up, and go on a romantic date.

Plan a date night out on the town. Hire a babysitter to watch the kids. Dress up and put on your favorite perfume and then head out to a romantic setting and enjoy each other’s company. When you are out with your husband, avoid talking about the children (easier said than done!) Focus on just the two of you. Talk about your dreams and your future together!

Day 12: Say “I Love You.”

There’s a lot of power in these three words. Verbally tell your husband that you love him as often as you can. If you have trouble verbalizing it, write it on a sticky note and leave it on the mirror so that he can see it before he leaves for work. You can also write a sweet card and place it in his car so that he sees it before he goes to work.

I hope you enjoyed this list of romantic things to do for your husband! Get creative and add new ways to be romantic this holiday season and show your significant other how much you care.

    Pick Out a Pretty Outfit

Plan out your outfit ahead of time and make sure it fits properly and feels good on.

Don’t forget about the accessories and shoes!

    Get Clean

Take a nice bubble bath the day of your date or a long shower. Wash your hair well with a quality shampoo or conditioner and relax during this time.

Use a body wash to smell extra fresh.

    Brush Your Teeth and Floss

Brush your teeth well and floss. You may be sharing a few kisses during date night and you’ll want to have a fresh breath!

Gargle with mouthwash for extra freshness!

    Go Light on the Makeup

Save time on date night by going light and natural on the make up.

Use the basics to feel pretty including foundation, a little blush, eyeliner, and mascara. Make sure you moisturize well first!

Give Yourself a Manicure and Pedicure

    Listen to Upbeat Music

While getting dressed, listen to upbeat music to help put you in the mood for the night. Dance around and visualize yourself having the time of your life on your date.

    Rest Up!

If you’ve had the kids all day long and your energy levels are low, you’ll need energy to be able to enjoy your date and stay out late.

Take an early nap if you can or go to bed early the night before so that you have plenty of energy on your date.

  • Ways to Make Time for Your Husband

Sometimes as busy moms, we focus so much on the kids that we forget to pay attention to our husband! Here are a few tips on Ways to Make Time for Your Husband!

Ways to Make Time for Your Husband

With kids to take care of, errands to run, a house to clean, and a hundred other responsibilities to take care of on a daily basis, it is all too easy to let something slide.

Unfortunately, however, when life’s demands press hard, it’s often our relationships with our husbands that suffer the most.

While many husbands are really understanding of the reduced share of our time that they get, the fact is that they shouldn’t be getting our leftovers every time.

Romantic Things to Do For Your Husband

If your life is so full that your time with your husband is continually being placed on the back burner, here are four ways to make time for your husband even when you are busy.

Ways to Make Time for Your Husband

    Mark it on the Calendar

If you wait until a free night magically arrives before you spend intentional time with your husband, you’re going to be waiting a long time.

Instead, you have to be intentional. Mark a regular date night on the calendar–whether it is once a month or once a week–and treat it just like you would any other appointment.

While scheduling time in advance might not seem romantic at first, it is a lot more romantic than not spending time together at all.

    Hire a Babysitter

If your small children are preventing you from finding time for yourselves, it may be time to hire a babysitter.

Kids benefit from having additional people to love them and care for them, and your relationship will benefit from a little time away.

If you cannot afford a babysitter, swap child care with a friend so you both get a free night out.

Alternately, you may take a day off of work while the kids are in school.

Five Ways to Make Date Nights A Priority

10 Ways to Prepare for a Date Night

Wake Up Early or Stay Up Late

Another great alternative is to make spending time together part of your daily routine.

Could you both wake up 15 minutes earlier to have coffee together before the kids wake up? Could you stay up late snuggling and watching funny movies after the kids are asleep?

If you’re used to watching TV, reading, or playing online before you go to bed anyways, use that time for each other instead.

Let the Children Watch Cartoons a Little Longer

Sometimes conflicting work schedules make getting alone time nearly impossible. This is when you’ll really have to get creative.

If the only time you can spend quality time together is during the day when the children are awake, you may need to distract them for a little bit.

This can include letting them watch cartoons a little longer, sending them off to play together in their rooms or doing family activities that allow you to talk, such as family bike rides with the little ones in the bike trailer.

Getting to spend time with your husband should be the highlight of your day–not an annoying task that often gets left off of your to-do list.

While making time for your husband can be tough–especially during various seasons of life–the strengthened relationship you’ll have will be worth all of the time you put into it.

  • Five Ways to Make Date Nights a Priority

It’s important to date your spouse, even if you are a busy mom! Read our Five Ways to Make Date Nights a Priority.

Ways to Make Date Nights a Priority

How long has it been since you and your spouse had a date night–just the two of you? Regular date nights are an important part of a strong and happy marriage, and yet all too many couples neglect them because they are too busy with other things. No matter how busy you are with work, your children and your hobbies, you can’t just let your marriage slide. You have to make your marriage a priority. Here are five ways to make date nights a priority.

Five Ways to Make Date Nights a Priority

    1. Mark it on the Calendar

If you are waiting for a convenient time to have your date night, you may be waiting awhile. Instead of trying to fit date nights into your already busy schedule, plan your schedule around your date nights instead. Decide on a night that works best for you–whether you want to go out one night a week or one night a month–and mark it on your calendar. Guard this date. If anything else comes up, you’ve already got plans.

    2. Make Plans in Advance

Speaking of making plans, don’t wait until the last minute to decide where you will go or what you will do. Have a brainstorming session and list out all of the places you’d like to go or things you’d like to do. Buy tickets or gift cards in advance. You’ll be more committed if you’ve already made plans and paid.

    3. Clear Your Schedule

If you are having a difficult time making time for date nights or if you always find yourself cutting your nights short, you may need to take a long, hard look at your schedule and determine if there is anything you need to cut out. Your relationship with your spouse should be one of the most important aspects of your life. If anything else is getting in the way, you may need to get rid of it.

    4. Understand the Importance of Regular Date Nights

Date nights aren’t just a fun night out or something to do. They are essential for the health and well-being of your marriage. These days, not all marriages make it, unfortunately. Don’t take your marriage for granted. Give it your all and build a firm foundation that will be indestructible when tough times come. Date nights are the perfect chance to do this. When you go out as a couple, you make memories, reconnect, and make your marriage stronger and stronger.

    5. Be Flexible

Of course, there are times of your life that this is going to be easier said than done. It will be much more difficult to go out when you have a fussy and clingy baby than when your kids are out of the house, for example. This doesn’t mean that you should just wait to have date nights until it is easier; it just means that you will have to be more flexible. You may go out late at night after the baby is already asleep, or you might both take a day off of work to spend the day together while your kids are in school.

When’s the last time you went out on a date night with your spouse? If it’s been a while, what’s stopping you from going more regularly?

4 Ways to Make Time for Your Husband

  • How Much Alone Time Do You Really Need As A Couple?

How Much Alone Time Do You Really Need As A Couple?

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been married for five years or fifty, if you have six children or none at all, if your house is big or small–every couple needs a little alone time away from each other every now and then. This isn’t a bad thing–it’s simply a fact of life!

Alone time allows you relax, regroup and refocus. It allows you to pursue interests the other isn’t enthusiastic about. It allows you make other friends, and it gives you more to talk about when you’re together. It helps you appreciate the time you have together more, since you aren’t constantly breathing down each other’s necks all of the time!

How Much Alone Time Do You Really Need As A Couple?

Every couple needs some amount of alone time; the question is: How much alone time do you really need?

Obviously, the answer will vary for every couple. Some couples can work side-by-side all day and still enjoy each other’s company in the evening. Others, introverts especially, really need extra time by themselves. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The best solution, then, is to find out how much alone time YOU need. You can do that by asking yourself these five questions.

    1. How Do I Feel When We Spend Time Together?

You just finished putting the kids to bed and you can tell your husband wants to spend some time with you. What is your initial reaction? Are you excited to finally spend some alone time together, or would you rather just crash on the couch by yourself? If you generally enjoy your spouse and his company, you may need a little more time to yourself.

    2. How Do I Feel When We Spend Time Apart?

Fast forward an hour or two. Your husband is doing his own thing and you’ve had a little time to relax. Do you start to miss him and wonder what he’s up to? Or are you secretly glad he’s busy doing something else so you can relax by yourself? Take note of when your feelings start to change. This can be a good indicator to let you know exactly how much time you need.

    3. Are There Other Issues that are Causing Me to Feel this Way?

Of course, often times, it isn’t just the amount of time you spend together that determines how you feel about spending time with your husband. If you are fighting or don’t have any interests in common, those can dramatically affect how you feel as well. Take a minute to really think about why you do or don’t want to spend time together. Is something going on, or do you simply just need to recharge by yourself and that’s it?

    4. How Can I Better Enjoy the Times We Have Together?

If your honest answers to question number three are less than pretty, it’s time to put in the hard work. Maybe you need to fight through your feelings to sit down and really talk, or maybe you need to find more interests that you have in common. Whether you spend a little or a lot of time together, you want your time together to be as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.

    5. How Much Time Do I Really Have?

While the first four questions are a great way to determine just how much time you’d ideally like to spend together, unfortunately sometimes life and busy schedules get in the way. When this happens, it’s time to ask yourself question number five: How much time do I really have?

Are you so busy driving the kids around, working, cleaning or pursuing other hobbies that you simply don’t have any time or energy left to hang out together at the end of the night? While it is normal to have exceptionally busy times in your life, if you find that this is always happening, it may be time to make a change.
